● Status: BOARD APPROVED, June 9th, 2025
● Last updated: June 5th, 2025
Purpose
John Jay FC is passionate about developing players and people through soccer and is committed to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to participate in our travel soccer program, regardless of financial circumstances.
We recognize and understand that some families may find it difficult to pay for their child(ren) to participate in our travel program, and this policy outlines how families may apply for financial assistance and how the club will assess and potentially award such support.
1. Eligibility
Financial assistance is available to families with demonstrated financial need whose child has been accepted into one of our travel teams. Assistance may cover a portion or, in rare cases, the full amount of registration, training, and/or travel-related fees.
Financial assistance is only available for the travel program.
2. Types of Support Available
● Partial Fee Waivers: Reduction in program fees.
● Full Fee Waivers: Reserved for exceptional circumstances.
● Other Support: Support for equipment or uniforms may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. Application Process
Families submit a request for Financial Assistance via email to the Club President (president@johnjayfc.com).
The request must contain the following information
Full name of registered child(ren) to whom the application applies
Explanation of the need for financial support
Applications must be submitted within two weeks of team acceptance unless otherwise communicated.
Families may be asked to provide supporting documentation.
4. Assessment Criteria
Applications are reviewed by a confidential Hardship Committee, comprising the Club President, Treasurer, and one neutral Board Member. Decisions are based on:
● Financial need
● Number of applicants
● Club’s available hardship budget
● Player commitment and attendance history (for returning players)
5. Award Notifications
Applicants will be notified of the decision within 10 business days of application receipt. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
6. Expectations for Recipients
Families receiving assistance are expected to:
● Ensure their child maintains regular attendance and good conduct.
● Treat the award of financial assistance as confidential.
7. Annual Review
This policy and the annual hardship fund will be reviewed by the Board at the start of each season to ensure fairness and sustainability.
